The general goal of the Project is creation of cohesive society in Latvia by developing a integration support mechanism for Roma community in Latvia.

The direct goal of the project is to promote inclusion of Roma children and youth in the system of education and labor market as well as integration of their families in the community by promoting cooperation and inter-cultural dialogue to reduce social diversity.

Target group: Roma children and youth, and roma families - the most discriminated minority group in Latvia.

Place of realization: regions of Zemgale (Jelgavas city).

The main project activities: development of Roma integration strategy for local municipality, training on diversity management and non-discrimination in education, implementation of innovative inter-cultural events, consultations of professionals and development of NGO cooperation network, etc.

The main planned results of the project are: inclusion of Roma children in the system of education and integration of Roma community in society promoted, get acquainted with the international experience, pedagogues and local government representatives trained , the core nation involved and negative stereotypes towards Roma people reduced, increased self- assessment of Roma people and motivated their civic activity (acquisition of citizenship, volunteering).

The main achieved results are:
1) inclusion of Roma children in the system of education and integration in labor market were promoted by two trainings and professional consultations for diversity management. 36 Jelgava educators and specialists were trained how to work with Roma children and young people;
2) the self-esteem of young Roma and their active citizenship were increased through the three (3) workshops for young Roma and their peers on citizenship, gender equality and volunteering with a total number of 48 participants (22 of them Roma young people);
3) integration of Roma families into society is promoted, and intercultural dialogue is encourage to decrease social disparities and negative effects of stereotypes by implementation of activities for mitigation of the prejudice against the Roma, and by the strengthening of Roma NGOs, as well as through implementation of the three (3) innovative intercultural communication activities for Roma children and young people and their peers which involved more than 270 participants in total.
During project implementation the measures taken to support the integration of Roma, including the developed "Strategic Integration settings, and courses of action to implement the Roma integration in Jelgava city" that are available for use in any municipality where the Roma community lives, have contributed to the strengthening of the unified society of Latvia.
