The aim of the action programme is to strengthen Latvian Ornithological Society (LOB) to ensure the participation of LOB in the decision-making processes on local to global level.

The programme is based on two main blocks of actions:
1) attraction of new and retention of the existing members of LOB by satisfying the interests of the members and regular communication with them, as well as by publicizing the activities of LOB and raising the society’s (mainly youth) awareness of the issues of nature conservation;
2) participation in the decision-making processes on local to global level, including activities of direct involvement as well as establishment of networks for cooperation.

In addition to the aforementioned blocks also fundraising activities are included.

The main planned results are an increase of the number of the members of LOB to 1000 and respect of the needs of nature conservation in the decision-making processes on various levels.

Project results: The project was needed to increase capacity of Latvian Ornithological Society. The results will be maintained by skills obtained in project. The goal of the project was to give grounds for stable increase of the number of members of LOB with a special emphasis on youth of 10 to 21 years of age by a survey of the interests of public and ensuring regular contacts with the members of LOB. The action plan was carried out in all Latvia.
The actions can be divided into two pillars: 1) attraction and retention of members; 2) involvement of LOB in decision-making processes. The main actions in the first pillar was survey of interest of 1004 people in joining a conservation NGO, maintenance of the web-site of LOB and regular contacts with the members of LOB. The result of these actions: the number of members of LOB increased to 539, there are 70 new members in 2015.
Within the second pillar LOB took part in development of 10 laws and regulations and 4 nature conservation plans of specially protected nature areas as well as monitoring of work of certified experts of nature conservation. As the result of these actions nature conservation is more adequately considered in laws and regulations and nature conservation plans and the quality of the work of conservation experts has increased.
Society was involved through LOB local groups. The main positive impact was to increase skills and to meet like-mined people.
