Reduction of discrimination, promotion of the dialogue and equal opportunities still is not sufficiently effective in Latvian education. Aim of the project – to promote the formation of a united, democratic and prosperous society in Latvia on the basis of intercultural dialogue, integration of diverse societal groups, educational activities and active participation in the social life. Target group – representatives of minorities and representatives of the basic nation, non-citizens, NGOs, and local community.
The achieved outcome
- The experience of the Norwegian partner NAFO in ensuring qualitative education in a multi-cultural society and strengthening of the community has been explored.
- A program and methodological materials “Diversity as a resource of education and community development” has been developed, piloted and published. The target group has mastered the program in four seminars; teachers have multiplied the knowledge to other interested parties; pupils have been taught.
Publicity and sustainability events have been implemented –Starting seminar of the project and the conference on sustainability planning; project publications in media a project section in the webpage has been established.

Project results: The aim of the project was to promote the formation of a united, democratic and prosperous society in Latvia on the basis of intercultural dialogue in culturally diverse settings, integration of diverse societal groups, educational activities and active participation in the social life.
Target groups: the project has served the representatives of minorities and the basic nation, non-citizens, NGO members, and local communities, in total 3703 persons.

The following results have been achieved:
• Happened experience research seminar in Norway, cooperation with Norway in the NAFO took place throughout the project. Based on the information gained from the partnership, developed and implemented in practice, teaching materials for intercultural education 15 Latvian schools.
• Development of intercultural education program "Diversity as an educational and community development resource." Program participants trained in 3703, occurred in one program a graduate seminar and three regional seminars in different Latvian regions. Program materials piloted 15 schools and communities.
• Created and published in the integration kit "Diversity as a resource" material included experience working with students who have come to live in other countries, hints for diverse classes, resources, community labor organizers, Norway NAFO experience working with immigrant integration in education.
• 15 design schools in different Latvian regions become multicultural educational methodological centers and donor multicultural management.
• Cooperation with different groups of society - learning programs participated in workshops, pupils who have recently arrived to live in Latvian, parents, municipal employees who work with immigrants, re-emigrants children and their parents.
Partner's role and involvement in the project
NAFO as selection and involvement in the project was the Norwegian experience and knowledge and this experience adapting Latvian. NAFO partners involved in the project: 1) the project team's work. Cooperation was coordinated with both the communication face to face (being in total project events either in Norway and Latvian) and via Skype, and also in advance by e-mailing to be discussed; 2) Foreign - Norwegian experiences / practices study: experience and practice research seminar in Norway. NAFO prepared experience program in April 2015 was held for 4 days experience as a research seminar in Norway. During the collaboration with the NAFO experts and attracted professionals, project team and representatives of the IAC LKIF got to know and analyze the admission of immigrants and the integration of Norway, teacher training for immigrant pupils and their families it was demonstrated significant experience in working with partners in different municipalities. Partners' expertise and practices in the use and adaptation of Latvian was implemented throughout the project.

Sustainability
Implementation of the project managed to ensure the planned results of the project impact on the target audience. This is evidenced by the fact that the results of the project - Integration of methodological toolkit “Diversity as a resource” are propagated 500 copies of the printed version. Material printed version received the participating school team members, community activists, and other integration stakeholders. The project contributed to the establishment of 15 communities on methodological and support centers for the coordination of integration measures. Of the program students participated in activities of local community members who have acquired knowledge handed on in their collective labor - libraries, museums, youth centers, seniors 'associations, parents' councils and other local groups.
