The everyday life of one-parent families, those with many children and a child with special needs (henceforth – Families) often consists of daily struggle against a long-term lack of time and financial means, that severely impairs the main functions of a family.
The aim of the Project is providing access to complex innovative social services for the needs of Families and improvement of the skills of family members and their self-development through culture and creative initiatives, in order to promote a high quality functioning of the Family.
The aim of the Project will be reached:
by providing a complex psycho-social assistance to 51 Families, in order to improve the social and functional skills of family members, enhance their employment and integration in society;
by consistent support of Project partners, improving the competences of 26 NGO members and employees for providing psycho-social support to Families, in line with their needs, thus facilitating the accessibility of social rehabilitation services.

Project results: The aim of the project was to provide access to complex of innovative social services for one-parent families, families with many children and families where is a child with special needs (henceforth – families) and to improve the skills of family members and their self-development through culture and creative initiatives in order to promote a high quality functioning of the family. The aim was achieved entirety during implementation of the project by providing a complex psycho-social assistance to members of 61 families and improving their social and functional skills, enhancing their employment and integration in society and by consistent support of the project partners, improving the competences of 26 NGO members and employees for providing psycho-social support to families, thus facilitating the accessibility of social rehabilitation services in the future.
Outputs delivered:
•3 Project start-up information seminars occured in all the Project implementation sites;
•an informational material "We build too many walls and not enough bridges (Isaac Newton)" was created and printed out;
•an e-booklet "The Garden of Family Relationship" was created, a booklet is situated on the web site www.tilts.te.lv
•repair of sanitary and uttility rooms was carried out (12,03m2) in the place where the social services are provided – Dambja street 10, Jekabpils;
•the experience exchange seminar "Doubly gives what gives without delay" took place in Lithuania;
•61 families, 11 of them were families with a child with special needs, were involved in the project activities;
•44 families took part in the family events "Three-quarters";
•45 persons in accordance with their needs received tailored support measures from the various specialists;
•18 specialists, who were involved in the implemention of the project activities, received 24 group supervision sessions;
•14 family members (46 persons) attended the family camp „The White Apple tree” in Aglona;
•26 specialists, who were involved in the implemention of the project activities, participated in the experience exchange seminar "Giving earned ....".
The project helped to bring together the good practice and promote collaboration of specialists with different competences and complementary experiences regarding social services for target group. It created space for exchange of ideas and further contacts for common problem solving and improving the performance in reaching the project aim in the future.
The Project activities were implemented by Society for christian generation community „Tilts” with partner suport from Society „Creative psychology centre for Family” and Utena’s University ofApplied Sciences.
The project activities were carried out in Latgale’s, Zemgale’s and Kurzeme’s region and the project was implemented from 01.09.2014. to 31.08.2015.
