The project will provide support to families with children and young people subjected to social exclusion risks in the Krāslava Region, promoting the understanding of a full functionality of the family system and non-violent attitude, promoting family stability and activity, and eliminating violence in the community. The project uses a new innovative approach eliminating violence. It envisages a set of measures to improve family conditions and reduce violence problems: preventive and educative measures (operating support groups), crisis centre services, specialist support, which will directly affect the target audience, improving professional competence of the specialists who work with these issues. Special focuses will be put on setting up a system of support groups.
The target group is families with children and young people with disabilities who have been abused in the family, and the abusers.

Project results: The project "Establishment of family support system to reduce violence problem in Kraslava district” was aimed to provide support to families with children and young people, to promote their understanding of functioning of the full family system and the non-violent communication. The target group was families with children and young people, people with disabilities, victims of domestic violence and the persons, who have been violent. The project used a new, innovative approach to reducing the problem of violence, including family support system in Kraslava district territory. The new "Family Support Group program" was developed, which is available in Kraslava County Council Online www.kraslava.lv. The Programme was published and distributed to social workers and professionals. In order to ensure the sustainability of the family support system the volunteering was popularized - youth members, social workers and representatives of the target audience into action, as well as group leaders (6) were trained. Crisis Centre provided services for 15 people (victims of violence with children, young people). Family support group leaders training was provided for 20 participants. 6 family support groups were established, involving 113 persons (59 persons - support group participants and 54 - received individual counselling). Project partner - Krāslava local authority Social Service - coordinated the training process and selected specialists.
