The state does not provide full opportunities of drug and alcohol-dependent people to receive rehabilitation services in an amount which it is required. Project is developed to provide the maximum possible number of people opportunity to get help to overcome the addiction.
Project aims to strengthen capacity of the NGO to ensure financial independence and provide long term participation in policy making and decision making processes in Latvia. During the project to persons with alcohol/drug dependency will be provided the option to receive long-term assistance in overcoming addiction and to reintegrate in society. It is planned to open a Half-way House for ex-clients of Rehabilitation center; provide public education about consequences of addictive substances use, encourage philanthropy, volunteering and donations, organize training courses for NGO members and volunteers.
Main project target groups are NGO members, young people, addicts.

Project results: The aim of the Project was to strengthen the institutional and human resources capacity of NGO “Independence Balt.” for managing the financial independence and to provide the long term participation of the NGO at the policy making of the state institutions and the decision making processes in Latvia. The implementation of the project provided the best impact on the administrative capacity of the organization, its new knowledge and good practice.
The project was implemented at all the territory of Latvia.
The target group: 2 NGO, 22 members, 7 workers, 32 volunteers, 339 clients in the rehabilitation centers, street work (3500 clients reached), 70 co-addicted persons, 600 young people, 150 municipality organization workers.
The importance of this project is shown by its results which were overplanned and proved the appropriate understanding of week points and needs of the Applicant organization were fixed during the project as follow.After the implementation of the project we can see that the aim were chosen well and fit the best to the needs and work of the organization. The best impact where reached on the administrative capacity of the organization, level of new knowledge of the staff, members of the organization and the youth, as one of the target group of the project. This project gave us the chance to work together more intense and to learn the new things and to establish the base for the future of the organization by all together.
The main activities of the Project and goals achieved: development of the Rehabilitation program and Program for the support of social reintegration, development of community centers, (339 people received help, 35 graduates), street work (3500 clients reached), Help Info line (more than 1000 consultations), 23 environmental and charity initiatives, fundraising, development of new services and business activities in order to provide for communities needs and achieve long term financial stability, 9 educational activities, events in cooperation with youth NGOs, meetings and cooperation with the state institutions, engagement with new volunteers and members, 3 trainings, seminars, web page improvement and development, educational and publicity materials.
The new initiatives and cooperation of the Project have had direct influence and developed the civic participation. The community centers have become more known, more people have access to information about services and the welfare level of target group has definitely increased. The target group actively took part in the Project and is motivated to keep on organizing the activities. All the results are great tools for the development of the work of organization in the future.
