The deeper involvement of ethnic Georgians in Latvia into the Latvian culture and society during the 12 months through intercultural dialogue, publishing of informative book and innovative Latvian language training as well as providing presentations of knowledge acquired by overcoming psychological barriers and breaking stereotypes.
The target group is Georgians living in Latvia (not less than 70 people) as well as public opinion makers like Latvian and minority school history teachers and students, journalists, students of history, artists (at least 200 minority and Latvian representatives ).
The project will be implemented in the Riga city and county.
The objectives of project’s activities are planned in close mutual interaction:
- Latvian - Georgian inter-generational cooperation activities ;
- publication and distribution of informative book about on history of cooperation of Latvian and Georgian peoples;
- Innovative Latvian language training course referred on the base of the above mentioned book’s content;
- Informative seminars in Latvian and minority schools;
- training of volunteers of Latvian Georgian Society;
- Publicity measures which are closely related to the presentation of the work made by the project participants.
Project results: The project aimed to Latvian living in Georgian deeper involvement of Latvian culture and society during the 12 months through intercultural dialogue activities by publishing informative books and realizing the Latvian language training in an innovative way, providing real application of acquired knowledge, overcoming psychological barriers and breaking stereotypes.
The target group was different population groups, including: 84 Latvian living Georgians ~ 50 non-citizens, 85 Latvian cultural and scientific workers, teachers, 48 students, ~ 200 minority and Latvian school students. As well as NGOs representing the above groups of people's rights and interests, including: 28 Georgian Society members, 30 other minority members of the Association, two employees and six volunteers.
The project achieved the following results:
Latvian-Georgian and intergenerational cooperation project (artist G. Huskivadze masterclasses Georgian and Latvian children and traveling exhibition organization). Workshop participants the best works were framed and exhibited in a traveling exhibition, and were used in the association and the project promotion.
Informative - educational book "Insight into Georgian and Latvian peoples of the history of relations" Issue and publication (800 copies). Before the event - 1 press conference; held two lectures and 4 presentations; organized an exhibition with 40 different-sized works of art. Measures spot visited by approx. 100 people; reaching the other audience it was provided in collaboration with partners.
Latvian language courses visitor with the native Georgian language.
Informative seminars minority and Latvian schools.
Information about the project was distributed to 10 radio broadcasts Latvian Radio 4, was inserted into the information Society website http://georgia.lv/lv/news/view/projekts-latviesu-gruzinu-starpkulturu-dialogs-sirdim-un-pratiem.
During the project implementation was confronted with decidedly positive Georgian and Latvian co-operation, which was not the place to any forms of discrimination. This attitude can be explained by the same friendly spirit expressed by the Georgian and Latvian similar to the basic understanding of the history and nature of the surrounding world events, as well as by efforts to present the project "products" high artistic and intellectual level.
